Description
There is a very special place I really love in Madrid, that perhaps signified the beginning of a ritual of freedom: it’s a fishmonger called Pescaderia Alofer, in the triangle of Madrid that doesn’t yet belong to Lavapiés and that is not yet Latina, and not Austrias anymore. They are honest, and a lot of fun. If they don’t have a lubina on one side, they throw it to their compañero on the other side, who will inevitably grab it without making much fuss. Queuing to buy a sea bass or tuna was my moment of freedom, and representing it on a canvas filled me with joy.
I want to share this feeling of joy between confinement and openness through my exhibition called Inside Out.
